In our teaching, singing, ministries, environments, and with our daily lives we keep the focus on Jesus, who he is, what he’s done and what that means for humanity.
We believe that there are essential beliefs and non-essential beliefs. It is incredibly easy to get stuck on the non-essentials and completely miss out on what Jesus did for us and what he is calling us to. We don’t expect everyone to think exactly the same or see eye to eye on the issues of theology or doctrine. However, at Cityline we believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. In the essentials there is unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, love.
Cityline’s connection with Parkcrest originally began in the mid 1960’s when a few members and leaders from Parkcrest Church planted Lakewood Christian Church on its present location. The Lakewood Church was launched out of the desire to connect people to Jesus throughout Lakewood and its surrounding cities. The church continued as an independent congregation until 2003 when Parkcrest Church came alongside the Lakewood church and added them as a part of Parkcrest Christian Church.
After several years and many attempts at fine-tuning the ministry experience and campus model of the now Parkcrest Lakewood campus, it was decided in 2010 that the campus would temporarily be closed for renovation and re-calibraton. Following much prayer and significant discussions, Parkcrest felt led to re-open the campus with the vision of planting the campus as an independent church plant. On Easter Sunday 2011 the Lakewood site re-opened, continuing a relationship with Parkcrest Christian Church as part of their multi-site network.
In February 2012, Jack and Linda Sheets accepted the invitation to be the Lakewood Campus Pastors. As the church continued to learn, develop and reach into it’s community, God began to grow it into a multicultural, multi-generational church, reaching people from various walks of life, through its three weekend services and various ministries that connect with people right where they are at.
On February 1, 2016 the Lakewood campus was officially launched as an independent church plant. The planting of this new church not only came with the recognition of it’s legacy but also with it’s new identity and renaming the church as Cityline Church.
The focus of Ciyline Church is to love God and love people as we serve the communities of Lakewood, Bellflower, Cerritos, Artesia and beyond, through meeting various needs, and providing a safe place for anyone seeking to discover how to establish and maintain a personal relationship with God.
Behind the scenes, a team of passionate individuals drives the heartbeat of Cityline Church. With diverse talents and unwavering dedication, our staff works tirelessly to make your experience with us exceptional. Say hello to the faces that make it all possible.
