Our Values

01
01

In our teaching, singing, ministries, environments, and with our daily lives we keep the focus on Jesus, who he is, what he’s done and what that means for humanity.

02
02

A growing relationship with Jesus is primary and ongoing spiritual maturity is a priority. We desire to live all of life out of the overflow of time with Jesus. His presence and his power are central to all we do. Without him we have nothing.

03
03

People matter to God and so people matter to us. All of them. Ethnicities, colors, shapes, sizes, backgrounds, educations, talents, single, married, young, old, the unchurched, dechurched, and severely churched. We love and value people.

04
04

As a multi-ethnic and multi-generational community, we are an example of a redeemed people, the family of God to a broken world. Because of our God given identity, the toxins of gossip, complaint, slander, dishonor and division are not welcome here. Nor will they be tolerated.

05
05

With a diversity of voice, a posture of authenticity, open communication and accountability to God and to each other. We serve together, willing to go above and beyond, and remaining flexible in order to give God our best at all times.

06
06

To those who lead us, to those we lead, and those we serve alongside. We will treat people and the role they hold with the honor that the cross of Jesus displays and demands they deserve.

07
07

Because God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. We are honest with ourselves and one another based on our God given identity in Christ. Being mindful that false humility and pride hinders God’s best for our lives and his church.

08
08

We willingly take the lead in sharing our time with others, our talents in serving the church and our money through tithes, offerings and radical generosity. In all we do, all we plan, and with all we are entrusted, we live open handed.

09
09

From the very start God designed us to be a people of joy and celebration. We don’t need an excuse to party, we have a reason to party. We will consistently recognize and celebrate who God is, all God has done, is now doing and will continue to do both individually in and through our teams and collectively in and through Cityline church.

10
10

Our confidence and competency are not based on our skills and abilities, but on the victory of our Savior Jesus Christ, who through His death, burial and resurrection, defeated darkness and redeemed the world. His victory is now our victory and we choose to live and lead in that reality.

Our Beliefs

We believe that there are essential beliefs and non-essential beliefs. It is incredibly easy to get stuck on the non-essentials and completely miss out on what Jesus did for us and what he is calling us to. We don’t expect everyone to think exactly the same or see eye to eye on the issues of theology or doctrine. However, at Cityline we believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. In the essentials there is unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, love.

Our History

Cityline’s connection with Parkcrest originally began in the mid 1960’s when a few members and leaders from Parkcrest Church planted Lakewood Christian Church on its present location. The Lakewood Church was launched out of the desire to connect people to Jesus throughout Lakewood and its surrounding cities. The church continued as an independent congregation until 2003 when Parkcrest Church came alongside the Lakewood church and added them as a part of Parkcrest Christian Church.

After several years and many attempts at fine-tuning the ministry experience and campus model of the now Parkcrest Lakewood campus, it was decided in 2010 that the campus would temporarily be closed for renovation and re-calibraton. Following much prayer and significant discussions, Parkcrest felt led to re-open the campus with the vision of planting the campus as an independent church plant. On Easter Sunday 2011 the Lakewood site re-opened, continuing a relationship with Parkcrest Christian Church as part of their multi-site network.

In February 2012, Jack and Linda Sheets accepted the invitation to be the Lakewood Campus Pastors. As the church continued to learn, develop and reach into it’s community, God began to grow it into a multicultural, multi-generational church, reaching people from various walks of life, through its three weekend services and various ministries that connect with people right where they are at.

On February 1, 2016 the Lakewood campus was officially launched as an independent church plant. The planting of this new church not only came with the recognition of it’s legacy but also with it’s new identity and renaming the church as Cityline Church.

The focus of the Ciyline Church is to love God and love people as we serve the communities of Lakewood, Bellflower, Cerritos, Artesia and beyond, through meeting various needs, and providing a safe place for anyone seeking to discover how to establish and maintain a personal relationship with God.
